to A L L PRACTITIONERS, PRACTICE/PATIENT CARE FACILITY/CLINIC OWNERS:
This is a response to the below email message from aopa.
I FEEL THE CONTENT OF THE EMAIL MESSAGE INVOLVES ALL CERTIFIED
PRACTITIONERS, AND REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. I hope that all of us
respond in fashion to AAOP and aopa
A number of questions arise for all of us to answer .... then act by
communicating to the Academy AND aopa:
[1] Has the AAOP been involved in this project? If Yes and all is acceptable
to the AAOP - STOP HERE, disregard what follows.
[2] IS THIS THE PURVIEW OF aopa ?? This, in light of aopa's statement, Case
managers will use the Guide as a directory to refer patients to O&P
facilities for care. aopa is a TRADE assn. The AAOP is our Practitioner,
Professional Assn.
[2] Is this a tactic solely to increase membership?
[3] From the perspective of understanding, cooperation, and properness,
professionalism, ethics, ought this information more appropriately come
from the Academy?
[4] If the aopa does publish such information, ought there be a visible
qualifying statement indicating that the guide does not represent
ALL qualified practitioners, or, facilities in the United States? AND, if
there is inclusion of out-of-country facilities, a similar statement?
[5] Anticipating a skewed historical perspective from aopa, and, in light of
several acts by aopa officers and board over the
past four decades, ought AAOP publish a Guide that explains the REAL &
COMPLETE History of the Profession - indicating that not all
qualified practitioners are employees of the aopa member
facilities/organizations, etc., and this Guide (AAOP) provides an
explanation of, and educates the Case Manager to who is a Qualified
Practitioner so the Case Manager is able to provide the most
expeditious assistance to her or his client
