Kudos and Happy Anniversary to OANDP-L :)
Constructive debates and discussions thru the listserve, have not only
opened dialogue and properly informed providers ,it has also networked
hundreds of amputees around the globe enabling the Barr Foundation, our
Where Hope Meets Help Donors and over 150 sponsoring prosthetists,to help so
many become Whole Again.
Thanks to that generosity, to date we have been able to provide
approximately 1000 amputees (150-200 amputees annually) ,whom otherwise
would not have the financial resources, with prosthetic rehabilitation.
Thanks to this valuable listserve, we have been able to connect many of
these individuals with qualified providers and surgeons around the world.
Have you sponsored an amputee this year ? Got a hand or leg you can give ?
>From The Barr Foundation, thank you Paul and all the folks at OANDP-L for
what you do for so many !
See you in Orlando!

Subject: [OANDP-L] 10 Year Anniversary and party announcement
Dear OANDP-L subscribers,
Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the Orthotics and Prosthetics
Listserver (OANDP-L). It seems like just yesterday that the first
announcement of the listserv was sent out to the Biomch-L group to introduce
the list. I recall watching the subscribers start adding up quickly over
the first few days.
A few weeks after the initial announcement, the listserv was promoted
heavily at the ISPO meeting in Melbourne, Australia, where many of you found
out about the service for the first time. Today we have over 3500
subscribers.
It was not long before the list began to take on a life of its own, with
many characters emerging out of the woodwork to liven up our days with
colorful debates and discussions on various topics unique to O&P.
We have witnessed and participated in passionate and thought provoking
discussions that have literally shaped the future of this profession.
Thousands of clinical questions have been posted and answered over the
years, assisting in the care of individuals in every continent. We have all
played an important role in the evolution of orthotics and prosthetics as we
connect ourselves to the growing network of professionals who are willing to
exchange their knowledge for the betterment of patient care.
We will be celebrating the anniversary of OANDP-L at the Academy Annual
Meeting in Orlando on March 17th in room Fiesta 7-10 from 8:30 pm - 11:30
pm. Bring your musical instruments, a song, or a story, and participate or
be entertained at Open Mic night. A good time will be had by all!
I look forward to the future of OANDP-L, as the next generation of
prosthetists and orthotists begin to share in the discussions and learn from
the many experts who are subscribed to the list. Thank you very much for
your continued participation in this valuable forum. Thanks again for making
this list such a great resource! As always, comments, suggestions, or
criticisms are welcome.
Sincerely,
