The Academy and ACPOC (Association of Children's Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics) will co-locate their annual meetings at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando March 16-19.
The two organizations decided to combine their meetings to provide an even greater diversification of topics and speakers to ensure their members would hear different points of view. It was noted that ACPOC's meeting, while focused on pediatric O&P, attracted a broader collection of speakers involved in rehabilitation, and included many topics that would have a broad appeal. One registration fee provides access to all regular sessions of either meeting, plus the joint Exhibit Hall. There are three optional Clinical Techniques sessions that require a small additional fee.
The meeting will begin with a keynote address by Dr. Peter F. Armstrong, Director of Medical Affairs for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, followed by four select presentations vying for the Thranhardt Lecture honorarium.
Then the two meetings split for concurrent sessions (open to all). In many ways, the ACPOC meeting and the Academy's will be following the same format and schedule as their respective previous meetings, but with enhancements that come from the advantage of being co-located. No other meeting can match the outstanding clinical and professional education sessions offered at this combined event.
