Gentlemen,
The board did give thought to the point you raised. Let me ask you a
question. You are a BOC certified practitioner. According to CMS and a
number of insurance companies, there is not difference between you and
an ABC certified practitioner. You both can bill. ABC is willing to
allow to come over as an assistant. Unless you keep your BOC
certification in good standing(pay dues to both organizations), you can
no longer bill CMS or these orther insurance as an assistant. Why
would you step down in rank from a BOC certificant to an ABC assistant.
Our conclusion as a board was that the BOC certificant would not accept
this offer. We felt that they would only join as equals.

Britt,
Obviously, we still don't have all the facts on this years long
discussion that the ABC board has been having about unification. I've
wondered the same thing. Why was the decision a full acceptance approach
rather than a stepped approach as you suggest? A stepped approach might
have angered more BOC certifees but it would have angered fewer ABC
practitioners. It sounds more logical. I would like to know the
discussions that the board has had on this subject. So far the
explanations given by the board members who've given one have not been
convincing to me. But then, as ABC isn't a member organization,
apparently it doesn't have to be.

happy and I beleive that they could see the fairness involved. That
would keep from watering down the ABC credential.
