Dear Colleagues,
In lieu of having recent definitive texts in our field, I would like to see
a number of socket designs and approaches physically/photographically
displayed at an AOPA/ACADEMY meeting.
This could be a prime opportunity for BOC and ABC practitioners to share
their creativity, technical expertise, and craftsmanship in approaching all
different levels of amputation.
Of course, we would especially like to see the more complicated amputation
levels addressed in additon to good examples of the less complicated levels
to demonstrate design, suspension, and interfaces and componentry.
A color photographic compendium could then be published by
ABC/AOPA/AAOP/BOC/NCOPE or somebody,
that would be useful for practitioners, therapists, physiatrists, surgeons,
and patients alike.
In addition,it just occureeed to me, I would like to see solutions from
developing countries also displayed. I have seen components and systems from
other countries that could definitely be utilized in the more developed
countries. This would make the compendium even more useful for all
concerned.
