Hello All:

I have a patient that I feel would be a good candidate for a stance control KAFO. She has only quad deficit, all other musculature intact. This was the result of several surgeries that resulted in circulation issues that caused this weakness. Falls seldom, but since she is elderly and safety is the primary concern. Cost is not a factor.

I like the Otto Bock design due to its light weight and low profile. Patient was fit with traditional KAFO and hated it.

My question to the list is this:

If you have any experience with this orthosis--
What is your overall opinion of its efficacy?
Have you experienced maintenance problems?
If so, were they minor and were you able to take care of it yourself?
If not, how was Otto Bock's tech support?
Since it is central fab only, did it fit?

If you have worked with the Free Walk I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Please reply, not matter how short. I don't have much experience with failure and prefer it that way. Any other comments on your outcome is greatly appreciated. Replies will be posted anonymously. If you prefer to call my number is listed below.

Sincerely,
