Thanks to all for your helpful response. (Thank you Paul for the
Listserve)
Materials :
Vivac, 3/16 @ 315 degrees / 15 min. rotate & flip / 90 sec, bubble-form
vacuum
Duraplex(Durrplex, Durplex, etc.),.080 @350 degrees, bubble-form vacuum
Thermolyn(rigid), from Otto Bock
1/8 Surlyn
W-Clear (Kodak), from Smith&Nephew Rolyan, dry over night @ 80-90 degrees
to de-humidify the plastic
Most felt that Durplex and Vivac were to brittle, but one who has made
hundreds of these over the years prefers it (Durplex).
For taking the impression molding itself, one response suggested using
Dupont RTV-3100 silicone instead of Alginate reporting that it's easier to
work with, faster setting, and nothing sticks to it. Sounded less messy
too.
I received the following suggestions for Central Fab: (Please note that
they are listed alphabetically, not preferentially)
Atlantic Innovations (TN), 432-648-4000
Bracemasters (WI), 888-790-6880
Le Fuente Ocular Prosthetics (OK), 405 236-2882
Thanks again for the info.
