Hello all,

I received a request for a custom face mask to protect an athlete's
fractured nose. Casting and preparing the mold is no big deal, but I
remember some expensive trial & error in learning the best way to heat and
form the plastic the last time I was involved with this, but for a
different application.

Years ago, I had made some vacuum-formed burn masks from a clear plastic
(~3/32) that I believe was duraplex? We had to dry it in an oven at
about 100 degrees for a couple of hours or so to avoid the thousands of
little air bubbles that would otherwise get trapped in the plastic.

Anyone out there into making masks of this nature with some specific
tips, or better yet, a source for central fabrication?

Thanks,
Andy Wolfe, CO
