During an AOPA conference last fall, it was noted that co-signatures
were required if, for example, a CP fit a patient with an orthosis. An
Orthotist, therefore, would need to co-sign.
This makes sense to me only if a totally non qualified individual is
providing treatment (cast technician with no formal education).
We cross-train our practitioners and cross provide all the time, as do
most all facilities. Does any facility out there require a co-signature
on their documentation? If so, can you share the gist of your policy?
Does anyone know of a reference source for this co-signature? Does
being certified in the opposite discipline and cross- trained make you
qualified? How does a company document this cross-training? AOPA has
not responded to my query as of yet.
