SECOND RESPONSE
--------------------------

Dr. Lincoln,

The simplest ones to use are the Carbon Copy II and the Safe II. Of course,
that really depends on how you construct the socket and the method used to
attatch and align the foot as well as the amount of shortage you have to
work
with. Personally, I don't see the need for more expensive feet than these in
most cases as you have very little room for increased function (from a
flex-foot for example) and such a nice long lever arm to begin with.

Flexfoot make two feet for this level, the allurion, that needs a little
more space and the low profile symes with a lower build height. Personally I
have used the Allurion several times on active patients with great sucess,
it is easy to allign and has good energy return. Springlite also make feet
for this level, which also have good energy return, but Ottobock do not have
such a good selection. Hope this is some help, regards,

I have used the Seattle light foot for Syme's prosthesis. The foot has a
very low profile and you can get correct leg length on just about anyone.
The old reliable Kingsley symes foot is available when cost is an issue.

If funding is not an issue the Ossur (Flex Foot ) Allurion foot is the best
option. Again because of low profile you can obtain correct leg length and
the client's reaction to this foot is very positive. It has a split toe
feature to handle rough terrain and the carbon material gives a good feel .
