Dear Colleagues:
I request your assistance in the following matter. Recently, I have
consulted with an individual with a brachial plexus injury who presents
with a flail extremity. This individual is considering amputation and I
am currently providing her with literature as well as different patients
to talk to.
Currently, I am looking for more individuals for her to talk to. The
proposed level of elective amputation would be at the shoulder
disarticulation level. She wishes to talk with other individuals who
have made this type of decision as well as those who elected to keep
their affected extremity. It would be helpful if she could talk to
individuals who utilized different types of prosthetic intervention
including myoelectric, conventional and passive as well as those who do
not to utilize a prosthesis.
I appreciate your consideration and assistance in the effort to provide
this person with information. I will pass on a contact email for this
individual to those who can assist her.
Sincerely,
Chris Lake, C.P.O., L.P.O., F.A.A.O.P.
