RESEARCH POSITION IN ORTHOTICS
University of Michigan Orthotics and Prosthetics Center (UMOPC)
    The UMOPC is looking for an orthotist or technician interested in
research on powered lower limb orthoses for gait rehabilitation.
Duties
will include fabrication of custom AFOs, KAFOs, and HKAFO's that will
be
powered by artificial pneumatic muscles (i.e. McKibben muscles).
Additional duties will depend on the applicant's interests but may
include
integration of robotics technology, computer programming for real-time
control of orthoses, kinematic and kinetic gait analysis, data
collection
and reduction, writing research papers and/or grant applications, and
normal clinical duties. The successful candidate will be an ABC
Registered
Technician, or an ABC Certified or Board-eligible Orthotist. The
applicant
must have experience with carbon fiber lamination for orthosis
construction. Salary will be commensurate with experience and
qualifications. The research projects are a joint effort of the UMOPC
and
the Human Neuromechanics Laboratory in the UM Division of Kinesiology
