Dear List,
As a reminder, the discounted hotel rate of $139 for the Midwest Chapter AAOP
Meeting May 30, 31, and June 1 at the Wyndham Milwaukee Center expires April
30th.
We are presenting an Orthotic Stance Control Knee Joint Symposium as part of
our exciting program. There will be presentations from Becker, Horton, Otto
Bock, and other similar devices including a panel discussion afterwards.
Included, there will be a wide variety of other prosthetic, orthotic, and
business presentations.
Along with our didactic sessions there will be workshops including some of
the aforementioned components, Flex Foot's Ceterus, Ortho America's TC2
Footplate Casting System, Cosmetic Prosthetic Finishing by PRS, and a
Fitness For Everyone Clinic presented by former paralympians, Todd
Schaffhauser and Dennis Oehler.
As always, there will be the Midwest Chapter's Annual Golf Classic on
Thursday May 30th at the brand new Morningstar Golfer's Club. The outing cost
has been significantly reduced to $60 due to our generous sponsors.
During the golf outing the O&P Assistance Fund will be hosting a First Swing
Clinic presented by Professionals from the National Amputee Golf Association
. This is a free program which instructs therapists to use golf as a
rehabilitation tool for a wide variety of our consumers.
As I'm told some people don't golf, there will be an alternative event
offered. A Great Lakes Fishing Charter will set sail early Thursday morning
to deplete the annual walleye run on Lake Michigan. The cost for hours of
nautical pleasure is only $50!
If that wasn't enough, Milwaukee (known as the City of Festivals) will be
kicking off the season with Riversplash, a celebration of Milwaukee's
Riverwalk. This free music and food festival takes place Friday through
Sunday at the foot of the Wyndham Hotel.
I will gladly provide agendas, registration forms, and manufacturer
registration information via e-mail if requested.
Our Board of Directors look forward to an excellent turnout for this
exciting, and unique continuing education opportunity!
