The Academy acknowledges the passing of one of the outstanding educators
of our profession, Arthur W. Guilford, III, CO (E).

While at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital and Ceritos College in California,
Art was responsible for the development of numerous devices that helped
severely impaired quadriplegic patients lead more meaningful and active
lives. His devices allowed individuals to feed themselves, use
computers, and, in some cases, become accomplished artists. His career
as clinical researcher, educator, and private practitioner touched many
lives and brought honor to our field. In recognition of his
contributions to the field, he was awarded the Academy's Clinical
Creativity Award at the 2000 Annual Meeting in San Diego.

A memorial service in celebration of his life will be at Bahia
Corinthian Yacht Club, Bayside Drive, Newport Beach, CA on Saturday,
March 16.
