Hello all,
Has anyone found a particularly successful way to control ambulation with
excessive dorsiflexion (heel-walking) throughout the gait cycle? Even
thought we may completely maintain a neutral or dorsiflexed position of the
ankle, a few patients simply rock back onto the heel of the AFO and
weight-bear/ambulate with very minimal or no contact of the AFO toe-plate
with the ground. We have tried wedging the shoe to further encourage knee
flexion and to push the center of gravity forward, but some continue to
simply rock back onto this as well. Any ideas or tricks?
Thanks,
Lance Hoag, C.O.
