Hello all,
I have a client who wants a passive transhumeral prosthesis. We evaluated him and discovered that an ALPS liner with pin and shuttle lock mechanism seems to work really well. We haven't yet built the prosthesis, though, because we must submit to the client's insurance company for approval.
What codes have you used for these locking pin systems? Do you use the L5667 / L5669 codes, the same way that they are used for transtibial Alpha-type liners? Or are there other adequate codes?
Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated. We don't see many upper extremity cases in our facility and as such are not as fluent with the coding of transhumeral prostheses.
Thanks in advance,
Bill Lifford, C.P.
