There has been some controversy surrounding whether or not a Darco Shoe (basically a cast shoe) would be covered by insurance? Primarily Medicare would be of our concern. Currently we have a Diabetic Patient with Medicare seeking bilateral shoes, but the code we have been accustomed to billing under would be L3260, which we have billed under Medicare with and without the diabetic dx codes (two separate patients) and it was denied in both cases. Does anyone know of another code that would be better suited for this diabetic. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
