Can we take it a step further........
I would like to see the Academy of Prosthetics and Orthotics in conjunction with ISPO publish the Atlas for both areas.
In this way a detailed compendium of different approaches to prosthetic (and orthotic in a separate atlas) problems could be covered thereby tapping the expertise of practitioners around the world
Additional text on materials, techniques, and technical principles (eg multi axis knee dynamics),as well as skin problems, pain management ,phantom pain, PT management, etc.
Of course we would also like to see advanced surgical techniques discussed, and discussions about different approaches to vascular vs traumatic
Modern principles and prescription concepts, amputee resources, and information manuals could be included.
Appropriate technology for developing countries could be also a part.
AND.. put it all on a CD or DVD..............So that it could be kept current and available by demand. It could be easily distributed throughout the world, and have links to numerous web sites including manufacturers.
Having an electronic version would allow it to expand and change with time, responding to the input of practitioners.
Then of course....it could then be translated into a few languages..
What do you think?
