Dear List Members: The following are replies to my question regarding a
stronger material than plaster to fill alginate impressions of a child's
hands. Many responded advising the use of dental stone. Dental plaster
is apparently too soft.
Another option is to pour resin into the molds and pour it back out, to
achieve a slush layer of resin. When that sets the molds can be filled
with more resin, plaster, or foam.
I'm sending the responses (edited for space) that give other options.
Thanks much to all who responded.
