I don’t see the statistics as relating to alphabet soup, but as relating to capable individuals within the O&P industry to provide quality services. With the forecasted increase of individuals in need of these services and a decline in capable individuals the likelihood of more fraud and abuse that can only be curtailed by government intervention is certain.
I would invite the O&P industry leadership to attend a meeting of the end users of our services in prosthetics the Amputee Coalition of America to help them understand some of these problems. I would also ask that they attend the meeting with an open mind and identifying themselves to the attendees as the leadership of O&P.
