The issue for licensed states and those contemplating it should be
encroachment by other fields that do not have specific O&P education who
should be considered marginally or peripherally qualified. This includes
MD's, CMA's, LVN'S, RN's, PT's, OT's, cast tech's, sales reps,Uncle Bob and
anyone else that can wield a tape measure, cast saw or bandage scissors.

As a member of one of those other fields (although not one distinguished
enough to make Mr. Nobbe's list), I would love to be made aware of the great
injustices that the members of this list are seeing where other marginally
or peripherally qualified healthcare professionals are putting their
patients at great risk or are providing a clearly inferior product or
service. Certainly that is what Mr. Nobbe is referring to, and not the
laughable idea that an O&P
professional is the ONLY healthcare provider qualified to perform EVERY
service and supply EVERY product that the O&P profession deals with!

It might just be that thinking like Mr. Nobbe's is the very reason O&P is so
far behind almost every other allied healthcare profession in national
recognition and licensure!
