I have received many responses to my original posting. Most of the responses
suggested a prosthesis along the same lines. I did receive the following
response and I am wondering if this is an option which should be considered.

Scott,

My suggestion is that if you want to go with a mitt, Hosmer makes two sizes
of the pediatric mitt. A better option might be to fit the child with a CAPP
TD that is not activated. This would allow the parent to place objects in
the
CAPP TD and would teach the child the holding function. When the motor
skills
of the child are developed sufficiently, the CAPP TD can be activated. The
CAPP TD is an outstanding TD for children until about age 10.

Is this option widely used? Should I give this recommendation consideration?
Have any of you used this type of prosthesis?
