Urgent: IC controlled Knees- Due for an Academy discussion?

Text:

Dear Colleagues

1) With these new IC controlled knees coming out, are we really saying that
hydraulic knees don't give true variable response to gait?

2) How responsive or unresponsive are the current hydraulic/pneumatic units
that are on the market

3) How much more responsive are the IC controlled legs.

4) With all the purported advantages of multi axis technology, why does
industry continue to develop expensive and more technically involved
single axis knees?

Can we see an in-depth discussion at the next US AAOP meeting in March on
knees? I don't mean a presentation by vendors, but a discussion about
theoretical and practical merits of different designs, subjective experience
of knee users, reliability , design improvements we would like to see,
importance of weight, and where is true variable cadence to be found. Stance
flexion...is it important, effective, which knee provides the best, and of
course, discussions of shock and torque absorption.

If we are going to continue to see new single axis knees...should we see
them linked to the foot- economically and reliably (new and improved hydra
cadence?)
