Medicare Regulations

Hello USA colleagues;
As I read my Region B DMERC Supplier Manual, Revised March 2, 1995, again for
the umpteenth time, I cannot find any requirement that states that a
physician's prescription is required for repairs to orthotic and prosthetic
devices. I often hear that a written prescription is required for O&P
repairs, but have never actually seen it as a DMERC regulation. As I read
it, a new order is required only when an item is replaced or when there is
a change of supplier. If anyone can point me to a DMERC regulation that
addresses this issue, I would appreciate it. I may be overlooking something
in a DMERC bulletin. Thanks.
