On a more technical note.....Stumbling over how to make Stubbies...

Text:

Dear Colleagues:

I am posting this on behalf of a friend but I am very interested in the help
and perspectives you may provide.

We often see Stubbies (Short knee-less AK sockets for ambulating) with some
type of a plate with a sole on it that faces posterior. I have also spoken
with some prosthetists that have used regular feet and then point them forward

The questions are:

1) Does someone actually market the the foot blocks often see on stubbies?
2) What is the criteria or rationale used for having the feet pointing
forward or reverse?
3)Is it related to the degree of hip flexion contracture? Center of gravity?
4) Has anybody used regular feet pointing posteriorly? It conjures a comical
image an may be a good reason to find or make those sole plates!
5) Is there ever a progression of initially pointing the feet posteriorly and
then pointing them anteriorly?
6) Any other good tips you can pass on when working with Stubbies?
7) Is there another name for Stubbies?

Sincerely,
Mark Benveniste CP
