US Politics -- Hanger

Text:
Although I directly compete with Hanger as a manufacturer because I sell the
ACE Brace, a product that is a generic equivalent of Hanger's CASH Orthosis,
I have to be fair and report that Hanger appears to have a policy of
autonomity for its practitioners -- that is, letting its practitioners make
their own decisions when it comes to patient care.
I say this because I have quite a number of Hanger accounts, which the Hanger
home office certainly knows about because all the bills are paid centrally,
and they do not seem to have discouraged the practice. Also, the ACE Brace is
only about 15 to 20 percent cheaper than the CASH Orthosis, which, while that
is a sizable competitive advantage for me, it would never allow me to compete
against a Hanger product that was sold at a 50% discount!
I was told by a Hanger manager, We are allowed to purchase outside of SPS,
but only if we are buying a product SPS does not sell or if we are buying a
product they do sell at a better price than they sell it for. Either way, we
can buy your ACE Brace.
The only problem I have with Hanger relating to the recent listserv
discussion is that many Hanger people have no doubt read the preceding posts
and no one has openly told the listserv community exactly what products SPS
sells at what discounts to what customers. Such a candid disclosure would go
a long way to settling this matter, a matter which appears to be sincerely
troubling to many non-Hanger practitioners.
That's my $ .02 worth!
