Dear OANDP-Listerve subscribers:

I would like to collect as much information as possible on the basic
methodologies surrounding the orthotic management of Charcot-Marie Tooth
patients. The CMT patient typically present with the excessive cavus
arch and varus rearfoot as well as an adducted forefoot. Hammer toes are
also present from time to time. The difficulty that I have discovered
(as with all orthotic management) no two CMT patients are the same. If
possible could those of you with more extensive experience with patients
such as these, offer your experience and treatment modalities you have
used along with the success and failures you have observed. It seems to
me as though there is a rather limited knowledge concerning this disease
and how to appropriately care for it.
I have recently begun my residency and already seen a handful of patients
with CMT. The challenge of managing these patients appears a difficult
one. All answers will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.
