Dear Kim:
I myself do not know any O and P practitioners who do not tell their
patients/clients strait off they are not doctors.
You seem to put great credibility in getting treatment/ verses services and
after 5 knee operations myself, what the heck does it matter!
Have you noticed that health care has changed to be very money/profit
oriented from every standpoint of medicine? Do you complain because doctors
make hundreds of thousands of dollars?
I work personally with the questionable surgeons practicing questionable
surgery at 5 hospitals that treat amputees. Or how about the spine surgeon
who prescribes his own patented 6 inch wide cloth binders for multi-level
lumbar and thoracic surgeons when all other doctors order custom TLSO's.
These surgeons guarantee nothing to people and feel little remorse when
expectations aren't met. They are comfortable doing their failed surgeries
over though. You seem to want to put O and P guys on this same unreal
pedestal and..... Get real!
I would agree like unqualified doctors their are unqualified orthotists and
prosthetists.

What do they call the resident who graduates last in his class? DOCTOR!
Bruce, A CO and darn proud of it.
