Colleagues,
I know it's probably in poor taste to ask this, but: what is an
appropriate salary for an ABC-certified CP with about a year's
experience post-certification? I have a review coming up and I
want to make sure that I am adequately prepared.
I am the main prosthetist at our facility (one other
board-eligible sees a few patients but not many). I am also
actively involved in the solicitation of new referral sources by
giving inservices (many many inservices) on prosthetics to
doctors, physical therapists, and medical students. My patient
caseload at any given time is around 80 patients, in the various
stages of prosthetic fitting (from putting shrinkers on to
applying the cosmesis on definitive prostheses). I live on Long
Island and commute to the metropolitan NYC area by train.
In addition, my idea to donate prosthetics services to a local
man who had no insurance (bilateral AK) has resulted in newspaper
coverage and repeated TV and radio coverage on all the local
stations and some national newscasts, greatly boosting both
public awareness of our firm and boosting awareness of us by
doctors and therapists (i.e. potential referral sources).
I have a number in mind, but I want to make sure that (a) it is
justified; and (b) that I'm not selling myself short. What do
you think??
Please respond privately to me personal email address:
