I felt the need to respond to a recent post regarding one of the licensure requirements in Florida.
I believe this came up in the discussion of manufacturers who market and fit their devices directly to M.D.'s, PT's, and patients.
The statement was made that a particular person was a BOC certified orthotic fitter and that is in compliance with the law. This is not an accurate statement.
To be in compliance with the law, a person must be Licensed as an Orthotic Fitter. Having BOC certification as an Orthotic Fitter is not part of the requirement. They may have meant that the person was previously a BOC fitter and has since become a Licensed Orthotic Fitter, but this was not clearly stated.
There is a web site, by the way, that will allow anyone to look up a person and see if they are indeed licensed in Florida.
That address is <URL Redacted>

I hope this information is helpful.
