I have a serious question to ask my contemporarys'. First let me give you
some case history on my patient.
23yo male distal 1/3rd trans-femoral due to giant cell tumor in the knee.
K4++ athlete and wants a running only prosthesis. He is sold on 3S
suspension and a flex foot w/o the heel. He wants to be a sprinter and try
out for the Paralympics.
Here's my question and e-mail me directly please.
I have had several conflicting knee shin arguments. I've tried out the
3R80 knee from Bock but it breaks too quickly for running. The runners that
I've seen circumduct their prosthesis while sprinting so the resistance
needs to be very high. An SNS unit is what we've seen on video but then
there is the weight problem. I'm trying to create a light weight system
that has control yet will allow him to change to longer distance running if
he so desires.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
