Can anyone help me with an orthotics-related word I am struggling to
identify?
The word I am seeking relates to the (supposed) benefit received by wearing
a brace that is derived from the user being made aware that the injured
joint (e.g., knee) is in fact injured. By being reminded of the joint
injury by the sensation of the brace, the user treats the joint more
delicately, thereby preventing further injury to the already weakened joint.
