Alright.....I think it is now time for me to jump in on Kim's defense.....

Scott, I understand that a word is a word is a word......big deal!!!
Right?

A client hires someone to perform a service......a consumer buys a
product. I have been an amputee for almost twenty years and when I am ready
for a new prosthesis I want someone to provide me with a service and give me
a product. I want to tell the person WHAT services I need and want and WHICH
products I want to buy. Often practitioners supply amputees with a limited
supply of products...(This works well with other amputees...We can make it
work...Get used to it) As a patient we accept the recommendations of the
practitioner.....Then we ARE a patient. As a client and consumer we TELL the
practitioner what we want. Scott, I encourage you to convert all your
patients to clients and consumers. If you are successful at this then you
are truly a great practitioner. And Kim....I would like to congratulate you
on being a client and consumer and advocating for your needs.
And by the way, not only have I been an amputee all of my life but I
am pursuing certification in prosthetics.....as for Scott's remark to start
your own practice and make the world better for amputees and the
disabled......my answer.....Ah, OK.
Scott, you are an orthotist.....Is this different? Orthotic
patient/Prosthetic client??? I do not know much about the orthotic
business....you tell me.
