THE CAMBODIAN SCHOOL OF PROSTHETICS & ORTHOTICS.

The Position.
The CSPO, Phnom Penh, Cambodia is recruiting a qualified Prosthetist
Orthotist (ISPO Category 1) to work with an established professional team
in the training of Cambodian P&Os. (ISPO Category 2) in the role of Vice
Principal.

The work involves the clinical, practical and theoretical teaching of the
skills of P&O in a classroom, workshop and clinic situation. Classes
consist of up to twelve students, all with reasonable basic education and
all with a working ability in English. As Vice Principal the successful
applicant will also be heavily involved in managing the program in all its
aspects.

The post is for a minimum of two years beginning July 1999, with
possibilities of extension by mutual agreement. A competitive salary and
package is available.

The CSPO.
The CSPO is a young institution (Established 1994) currently accredited
with ISPO, attaining Category 2 status, January 1999. Intakes are of
twelve students per annum on a three year course. The current teaching
staff consists of four expatriate P&Os, and six local staff. The
facilities are purpose built and well designed for maximum efficiency.
We are situated next door to the Cambodia Trust Rehabilitation Project, out
of which the CSPO was developed. The school is a collaborative venture
between six international NGOs and has gained a pivotal role in the
development of services to the disabled in Cambodia.

The country.
Cambodia is in a post conflict situation with considerable development and
rebuilding in evidence. The city of Phnom Penh is now comfortable to live
in, with good personal security and rapidly improving infrastructure.

The candidate.
This is an ideal opportunity for the experienced or first time expatriate.
Coming into a well established, motivated and energetic team presents
unique opportunities for a challenging and fulfilling career. The
successful candidate will have a recognised qualification from a P&O school
at diploma or degree level and will have at least two years post graduate
experience. Some prior experience in teaching would be an advantage but is
by no means a prerequisite. Pedagogical training will be provided.
Experience in management will be of great benefit.
