One fine day Al Pike received an anonymous letter:
AP> I also received the following message.
Anon:>Although I share your concern with changes to AOPA, ABC and the
Academy I disagree with your efforts to open discussion on this
listserv. Remember the problems last year with so many political
discussions, and complaints from other users. This listserv is for
the O&P community at large, which is an international community.
If discussions about US politics are important they should be
discussed elsewhere. Perhaps you could help with recommendations
for another address for more personal discussions and less
international discussions.>>>>
AP> I do not see this as only a US political issue as it will have
ramifications in the international O&P community and for amputees
and brace wearers.
With the above in mind, I am happy to offer a solution. I have moderated
AMP-L, an amputee listserv formerly at the University of Pittsburgh, for
three years where we had a very fine time of it. Our sponsors left for
greener pastures December 31st so on December 17th we moved AMP-L to the
University of Washington. I am pleased to offer this forum for
additional discussion so someone's sensibilities are not offended by
political discussion about the future of both the profession of
prosthetics and the three organizations considering a merger.
