OANDPL,
I am currently working on a paper titled Biomechanical
Considerations for the placement for Mechanical Ankle Joints in Lower
Extremity Orthoses. I am looking for information regarding textbook
placement of mechanical ankle joints. Good reference books or texts that
have information.
I am also interested how individual practitioners clinically decide joint
placement.
Do you traditionally use the anatomical axis, use the medial malleolus
aligned to the patient's toe-out, or other criteria?
Does your placement vary greatly from patient populations? Or do all
place them the same for all patients ?
How much do the materials you use infleunce your decision ?
Thank you for your responses.
