> Greetings,
> We recently received a notice from the Washington Healthcare Authority which regulates Medicaid providers in Washington, stating that they will no longer accept prescriptions or face to face documentation from anyone other than physicians for DME, medical supplies and prosthetics/orthotics. A non physician provider, such as ARNP can do the face to face visit to determine the need but will still have to be documented by a physician. Only physicians can sign orders. They are stating that a February 2016 federal regulation requires this change (42 CFR 440.70). After reading 42 CFR 450.70, it is rather vague if this applies to the general population or only to home bound individuals. Has anyone else encountered this and how does it affect day to day business? Thanks for your help.
