Hello list,

I am trying to source a cutting system we have had in the past. We use it for cutting off bulbous casts with minimal deformation. Essentially, it consists of a self-adhesive plastic or nylon guide channel (which can be stuck on to the residuum or limb prior to casting). Once the cast has been taken, the clinician feeds a rough cutting wire through the channel, affixes a handle to each end, and then proceeds to use a sawing motion which cuts through the channel and the cast without the need to use a blade, and without deforming it at all.

From memory, we last purchased it from a surgical product company. I think it can be bought as a set of wires and adhesive guide channels. We already have handles.

Thanks in advance,

Cath Mok
