Colleagues,

Ok. Feel like I stay in the know more than the average Joe and was
caught off guard massively this past week.
Heard a rumor that then was confirmed that one of the more reputable
manufacturers Boston Brace/Nopco now under the name Boston Orthotics &
Prosthetics had worked behind the scenes securing one of our ordering
practitioners who orders from them and even then asked the owners of
our company if we would share our space with them at that hospital.
Really?

The sad thing about this situation is that we as practitioners are
given carte blanche trust from the owners of our companies to order
braces from the manufactures that we feel make good orthoses, are
efficient and that we believe have INTEGRITY. It makes the owners
of the company that have given that freedom to their practitioners
vulnerable and trusting and therefore It ruins it for the other
reputable manufacturers as this example has to make a business owner
tighten up the bootstraps and get more involved with whom may be
undermining them with a practitioner that is on this owner’s payroll.
Business is business I get it, but there needs to be a line in the
sand here as our manufacturers owe it to the guy who signs the check
at the end of the day to them to pay for their products to remain
loyal and not to undermine them by sneaking behind them with the
person that was not actually paying the bill.
By the way, I don’t need to write this for myself as a practitioner of
this great field as this stuff here is obvious, but rather I write it
for all business owners to BUYER BEWARE! Boston O & P formerly Boston
Brace has a new model of business.
