Hi all,
With 3D printing becoming more common in O&P, I have begun making free informational and training videos to help people get started using low cost solutions for successful 3D modeling and 3D printing. These videos can be found on the 'Limb And Lattice' YouTube channel, LinkedIn page and through the website LimbAndLattice.com. I have most of the foundational education videos complete now and I am beginning to get into content related to actual designing and printing projects. The content will continue to evolve over time and by following along with these videos you will be able to get started making highly functional 3D printed test sockets, flexible inner sockets, cosmetic/protective covers, orthoses, etc, and you can do it for less than a $1,000 investment into hardware and software. I will provide plenty of information needed to help reduce the steep learning curves otherwise involved with learning and implementing this technology. I make these videos using Autodesk Meshmixer (free) for organic shapes much like traditional O&P limb modification software, Autodesk Fusion360 (less than $500/year) for mechanical and dimensioned parts, SuperSlicer for creating the 3D printable gcode files, and an Artillery Sidewinder X2 3D printer ($419, 300mm x 300mm x 400mm build volume to accommodate most prosthetic needs). I am also now getting started on creating an open source, free library of AK shape templates to use for making AK CAD files from measurements (AK by numbers). Feel free to email me at <Email Address Redacted> <mailto:<Email Address Redacted>> if you ever have any questions about digital 3D technologies for O&P!
