Hello again O&P Listserv,
Below is an email I previously sent containing my introduction and my Master's project research survey. I'm resending it in hopes of increasing participation. To be clear, you do NOT need experience with HO in order to complete the survey. I designed the survey to remove specific questions for those with no HO experience, and documentation of experienced practitioners who have not seen patients with HO is needed to set a baseline for the prevalence of HO. I encourage those who have not taken it yet to please participate as it will help me establish stronger significance in my research results. If you could pass this email along to other prosthetists you are familiar with, I would greatly appreciate it! It takes less than 5 minutes to complete, and even less for those with no experience. I will also share the results of my survey to any who are interested once the survey is closed. Thank you all so much! I sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out to me and completed my survey.
All the best,
Rene Respicio

Subject: Prosthetic Practitioners: Management of HO Survey
Dear O&P Listserv,
I am a Senior O&P student at the International Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics. The research I'm conducting for my senior project features a survey that aims to gauge the prevalence of heterotopic ossification (HO) in today's community of amputees (from the perspective of the practitioner) and gather reports of current approaches to managing painful or symptomatic HO. Experience with HO is not necessary to complete my survey! Any and all survey responses are helpful and will provide me with a general understanding of how common/uncommon HO might be. The link for the survey is here: <URL Redacted>

Fill | Prosthetic Management of Heterotopic Ossification Survey< <URL Redacted> >
Heterotopic ossification (HO), in the context of prosthetic management for patients with lower-extremity amputations, is characterized by bony overgrowth that can cause increased pressure inside the prosthetic socket during weight-bearing. This survey aims to gauge the prevalence of HO in today's community of patients with amputations and gather reports of current approaches to managing painful or symptomatic HO.
