Hello ListServ. I would like some advice on a patient of mine. She is a
medium to short transfemoral amputee with a slightly fleshy limb. She is
in need of a new socket and has come to me from a different facility. We
discussed options for suspension and she has chosen a seal-in system. The
patient would like to return to riding her bicycle. I have concerns with
the seal in system keeping suction while riding. I consulted with a
colleague of mine and he suggested using a suspension belt while riding and
having her shorten the arm of her pedal. Does anyone have any other
suggestions on how I can maintain good suspension while she rides? I
should also mention that vacuum suspension is not a good option for her.
Thank you,
