Hello,
35 year female, Spina Bifida, Former Paralympian, wheelchair sprint.
Has a right lumbar curve of 29deg with a very small thoracic curve. She is
an engineer and in her chair all day at work. By the end of the day she is
leaning to the right, and is looking for a way to control this .
I am not a seating expert by any means. She has used a low back chair her
entire life. She has tried other standard back chairs but hates the way
they impede her mobility in the chair.
My first thought was to go with a high back chair with lateral support.she
shot that down right away.will not use any chair that has a high back on it.
My next thought was some kind of lateral buttress that could be snapped into
the seat base when needed that would provide some lateral control. Is there
something like this available? Again her fear is that this will limit her
mobility in the chair.
She came in with pictures of the Aspen Tri Point Scoliosis Orthosis. I just
happened to have one in stock to try on.and she was intrigued.
Any other options similar to the Aspen that might provide lateral support in
her chair?
Thank you in advance!
