Does anyone know if it is legal for Orthotists and Prosthetists to bill CPT codes other than Lcodes, Kcodes, Acodes etc? The codes in question are 97760, 97761, 97762 and 97763 which are O&P training codes. I also assume it is double dipping to bill for training of a device and deliver a device with an Lcode since I was taught that Lcodes include the above. But for example we see a patient and adjust their AFO in the patient room. This would normally not be a billable even with L4210, L4205 since those require taking the orthosis back to the lab. But if it could be billed as one of the above codes we could probably also bill for consults or fixing orthoses which we didn't provide.
Just a thought and needed to see if another clinician had information on this.
