I'm looking for some feedback and thoughts on a new case I have.
An older gentleman came in with what I believe to be a Chopart amputation. The challenging part is that he also has a plantarflexion contracture and no ankle motion. I passively can move his ankle a couple degrees. He had his amputation done in January of 2020 and had a very slow healing process and has been wheelchair bound since. I'm sure that played a major part in leading to his contracture. He can use the walker for distances no more than 10 feet and he'll put some weight on the distal aspect.
Some thoughts I had about this include:
-Clamshell PTB w/ posterior opening or window
-A shoe lift will have to be added on the other side due to the length of his amputation
-Revision surgery
-Should he work first towards regaining ankle motion
I have some pics and video that I can send as well. This is probably the most complicated case I've seen before and would love any feedback/thoughts!
Thank you!
