Hey OANDP-L ListServ!
This is my final reminder for this survey….I promise!
Thanks so much to everyone who has responded already. We are holding at a 160 responses and the average time is 3:23 minutes, which isn’t bad. If I could get a few more the discussion may be considered, more relevant. Even if it is me presenting the material!
Your comments are really interesting. They make many insightful observations that, frankly, need to be investigated further! The discussion about technology and innovation really opens up a whole new level of questions. Does technology and innovation directly provide better function for patients, or does it help us do our job better? Could technology be used to provide adequate care at a higher volume? How do we support new or even existing technology if reimbursement does not keep step? Below is a sample of some of your great comments:
…most manufacturers of new technology for prosthetic devices supply written instructions and online videos, step by step, in the proper use of the items. And, if you still need help, they have staff members who will personally talk to you…
Adapting to new technology is challenging for people who have done things the old way for many years. Teaching methods of new technology requires awareness of how to deliver training with respect to different learning styles...
I believe that this biggest barrier to technology is reimbursement for cost. Many will not risk new technology because of the cost of it, especially if it doesn't work.
...I see technology as something that allows me to my job better. Efficiency is a definite plus but so many times, Unfortunately far too often, I see technology being used as a screen to mask incompetence….
Here is the link for your opinion to be heard!
