Hello List. Our department is just starting to mould TLSO's over carved foam models. This question has been asked before, but I was wondering if people would share best practices for moulding plastic over foam models.

We have used this method: Cling wrap foam model, apply a thin nylon stockinette over model, mould 1/8 polypropylene over model, grind seam smooth. Then apply another thin nylon stockinette, and mould polypropylene for definitive brace. Our technician said that both layers of plastic need to be cut off the model and ground before separating them, but this method leaves a smooth finish to the brace, with little shrinkage. Disadvantage is time and waste of inner polypropylene.

I'd love to know what others are doing.
Thanks. This list serve has been very helpful to me. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season, and that we enter 2021 with hope for a better year than the last one.
