A sincere thanks to all who took time to respond to my question regarding
Nymbl/OPIE - it is so helpful to hear real world experience. The takeaway
from all responses combined is that both systems have much to offer, and
both would be FARRRRR better than paper! :) Here are a few of the comments
on both systems for any who are interested.

Nymbl
-------------------------------------
Two years ago when I needed to decide fresh I went with NYMBL.I have been
thrilled with Nymbl. Nymbl has been great about improving the system in
response to our feedback.
-
We switched over to Nymbl back on April 1, 2018 and haven't regretted the
switch. We were with Medflex previously. It was a learning curve for us
and we gave ourselves ample time to get familar with the EMR and how to
ween off of Medflex totally. The ease of accessing the documents, WIP's,
insurance, pictures, etc is amazing to us. Our claims have been processed
in most cases in less than 21 days for an average. We have had some
process within 7 days. It is because all of the information for a clean
claim process are built into the Nymbl system. If our practitioners need to
go to a patient's home, doctor's appointment, a facility, etc. they have
access to all the documents that they need. As far as the ease of setting
appointments for our patients, it is simple as 1, 2, 3. The added forms
that are built in a bonus; plus, you can customize your own templates for
the practitioners to use.
-
We are using Nymbl. We switched this past year and the transition to
paperless was great. There are pros and cons but one thing is that they
are very responsive. Their customer service is wonderful and they are
continually working to improve the software. If you are a smaller practice
I think you will like it very much - we are a small practice so I can't
speak for larger companies and how they like it. We were formally with
Medflex
-
We like the cloud based platform very forward design for todays OP
practices. Recommend looking at both they offer intros to their
platforms. We used BRIGHTREE for years great on biz side- weak on
clinical- NYMBL is best of both. They're constantly improving their
playform to keep up with changing needs.
-
We switched from paper charts (our billing company used Medflex for our
billing) to Nymbl about a month ago. I guess I can't speak to Nymbl as a
whole yet since we're not billing through it yet but I've been very
pleased. I mainly wanted to have an EHR to simplify our charting and
passing things back and forth between our office and our 3rd party billers.
I've never used an EHR in practice before and picked Nymbl up super quick -
everything is pretty intuitive. I used to have to wait a day or two to get
a DWO from our billers to take for signatures, now I can create a
patient/order and pop one out in a few minutes. I'm going to start using an
Ipad to get physician signatures when I attend amputee follow up
appointments and think that will be a nice feature.
OPIE
--------------------------------------
OPIE is far more than just an EMR. We do billing, WIP, inventory, intra
and inter office communications, mobile devices, use reports to measure
data, dashboards to monitor day to day and more things...They update
constantly and help us to remain competitive with larger corporations that
have IT departments as well as staying abreast of changes in the field.
OPIE users are willing to support each other in our pursuit to compete.
-
we have used Opie for more than seven years and love it. It allows us to
have great results for documentation, billing, inventory control and many
other great things.
There is a large learning curve to master it but once you do it becomes
indispensable.
We have not had any Prosthetic documentation appeal denials since we
started with Opie in 2013.
-
We love OPIE and have had it for 10 years now. We have been able to let
our employee that does billing work from home during this time of trying to
limit people in the office for Covid rules. The purchasing and
inventory system keeps all the orders very organized and easy for the
technician to check in and properly label patient items vs stock shelf.
The chart system after the short learning curve can save so much time. I
have been able to create templates for my notes that allow me to change out
the specifics for a patient but make sure those nice key punch words are
there for the insurances. An example is on my diabetic shoe notes I have
pulled wording directly from the Medicare LCD on the description for the
diabetic inserts materials that we use. I love the color coded WIP. You
can organize the WIP for whatever task you want to focus on for the day and
it makes it so quick and easy to look and see what is done and what needs
to be done. These are the high points that come to mind when I think of
how OPIE is beneficial to us but there are so many more.
-
This past March we switch to OPIE but consider Nymbl. Went with OPIE
because we were a Futura client. On surface they looked similar and I have
been happy with Opie. It was and still is a big learning curve since I
spent 20 plus years on Futura. Opie certainly dots the I's and crosses the
T's and super detailed about compliance. Maybe for Opie it may cost a bit
more money but I think their experience in the segment is worth the extra
cash.
