Hello practitioners,
I was wondering if you had any guidance on choosing an afo for a 400 pound pt with painful ankle arthritis, neuropathy, fluctuating edema, and self reported history of Arizona style Afo cutting off circulation (and compression garments cutting off circulation as well).
Goals are to immobilize ankle without skin breakdown.
Pt does not have foot drop, and I feel that he would break ankle joints or stirrup.
Thank you in advance,
Michael Lewenfus, CO, prosthetic resident.
