Dear list serve, I sent the letter below to Ms. Kimberly Hanson who is
with the Ottobock reimbursement department. She is very talented and wears
many hats, and one recently in helping our AOPA organization. She knows I
reside in California. My question to the list is this: Can you share with
the group what the rule would be in your individual. Upon an answer from
Kimberly and the list I will post the responses. Please stay safe!
Sincerely, Richard (Rick) L. Feldman, cop
Hi Kimberly,
I hope you and all your family are healthy!
I believe personal orthoses and prostheses are not taxable. However I need
to know this is a fact. My question requires an answer based on fact; and
place of reference. I will continue to look on my own; but if your
reimbursement department has an answer that would be helpful.
This would be the illustration: An MD writes a Rx. for a limb or brace.
The item needs a repair or to be replaced. The user has no insurance and
wants to pay cash. There are no medical conditions requiring a medical
consult. The user does not want to pay a MD for a Rx. since it is evident
that a replacement of a part replacement is necessary.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks for all your past help, and forward mutual help,
Sincerely, Rick, cpo
